Hot Gospel formed 2004 by esteemed choir director Helen Garnett, has a rich history. Through a transformative journey, Hot Gospel evolved into G Choir in 2018 and returning to it roots 2024 in merging with Hot Gospel, attracting a dedicated group of singers from the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regions. This diverse and tightly-knit gospel choir embraces individuals from all backgrounds and open to all regardless of faith.

At the helm of Hot Gospel is a highly experienced team that has propelled the choir to become finalists in the BBC Songs Of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year competition in 2019 and 2022. The choir has graced prestigious stages, performing at events such as the BBC Verve Festival and securing bookings for the internationally acclaimed gospel festival in Rajadell, Barcelona.

Helen's unwavering commitment to nurturing each choir member's potential is a cornerstone of Hot Gospel's ethos. She consistently sets high standards for their personal vocal aspirations, fostering growth and excellence among G Choir members.

Beyond their musical endeavors, Hot Gospel shares a deep sense of camaraderie, akin to a close-knit family. Their collective experiences foster unity and mutual support, making Hot Gospel an inclusive and welcoming community eager to embrace new members.

The choir's repertoire showcases a vibrant selection of contemporary gospel songs by renowned artists such as Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin, Rev Milton Brunson, Stormzy, Emile Sande, James Cleveland, Fred Hammond, and many others.

Over the years, Helen and her choirs have cultivated meaningful relationships with influential figures in the industry, including Bazil Meade (our choir patron), Donald Lawrence, Karen Gibson (Kingdom Choir), GTM Ministries, and Ramon Escale. These valuable connections have led to unforgettable experiences and opportunities for Hot Gospel members.
