Phoebe Oluka
Phoebe Oluka our chaplain was born in Kampala, Uganda. She trained as an educator and then worked three years as a High School Teacher, ably sharing the knowledge and life skills that she learnt and experienced over the years. She also gave of herself to teach the Youth Group at the Church that she and her family attended. She has since continued her work with people of various ages into her adult life. A dedicated member of the University Missions in Uganda, she shared her life continually, meeting the spiritual & material needs of people in the rough terrain of the eastern country side.
From a family of seven children, Phoebe continues to draw great influence from the life and experiences of her father who dedicated his life to sharing the gospel of Christ in Church and through his work in the civil service of his country. This inspiration has seen Phoebe serve faithfully and excellently in both secular and Christian circles.
In childhood, Phoebe exhibited a passion for music often singing soprano whenever she and her siblings sang be it in church, home or at gatherings with her friends. Along with music, Phoebe displayed an unmatched interest in poetry and often did recitals on Youth Sundays at Church.
Phoebe is pursuing a BA in Biblical Studies and Christian leadership and plans to put to good use her skills in teaching, training and modeling people in leadership and service to the body of Christ. Her uttermost passion is seeing people reach their full potential in whatever arena they find themselves positioned. She has served with HERIB, an institute that sees to the needs of the blind and CAREFORCE a Christian charity that every year, assigns young people to a missionary placement for a year or two in the United Kingdom. It was through this latter experience that in 2008 she was introduced to and has since been a part of Hot Gospel. Like everyone else, Phoebe has found that she has had to overcome numerous obstacles and painful experiences, yet still surrender to the bounty of joy in Christ, that have carried her to the top.
She is completely driven by the dreams that have been placed in her heart and in her desire to be a better person with faith being her solid foundation, is compelled to see others realise their dreams by helping them find their purpose and determine to achieve it. Both her music and poetry continue to be a pillar of expression for Phoebe, in sharing the message that she carries. Some of her work can be found on HER BLOG.
Phoebe takes on the role of Choir Chaplain for the Hotgospel Community Choir being available to all choir members for spiritual and personal matters, she will liaise with the choir director and provide support to the choir leader in spiritual matters as well as being available to help in the ministry. Her role will involve great commitment, knowing Phoebe she is ready for any challenge!
Phoebe believes 'God has made each of us unique and designed us for a special purpose in life. When we find that purpose, accept it, and put our all into fulfilling it, we find contentment.'
